All dogs to be microchipped by 6th April 2016

From the 6th April 2016, it is compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped and registered on an approved database.

Also, if your dog has pups, they must be microchipped, with your details, by the age of 8 weeks. When the pups go to their new home, the new owners must then update their details onto the database.

If your dog is found without a microchip, you will be given 21 days to have your dog microchipped. If this is not done, then you could face a £500 fine and a possible criminal prosecution. Also, if you do not have up to date details on the database, you would, again, receive a 21 day notice to uplate your details, or face a £500 fine.

At our Coventry and Nuneaton animal rehoming centre, on Coundon Wedge Drive, Coventry, we are offering a microchipping service at £10 for each dog. This includes registering your animal's details with Petlog, which is one of the approved databases.

To make an appointment, you will need to contact us either by telephone on 024 7633 6616, or you can message us via our Facebook page (RSPCA Coventry, Nuneaton and District Branch). Please ensure this is via private messaging, to ensure that we pick it up. We have to offer this service via appointment, so that we can fit everybody in.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.

Thank you.
