SOCIETY PROJECTS GOODWILL TOWARDS RSPCA

RSPCA Coventry, Nuneaton and District are one step closer to getting a new educational programme off the ground thanks to support from their local Coventry branch of Yorkshire Building Society.

The Society’s branch on Hertford Street has stepped in with a donation of £250 from its Charitable Foundation to help buy projector equipment that the RSPCA team can use in their newly developed programme for educating people in the local area about animal welfare.

Glenn Mayoll, Animal Centre Manager for the RSPCA Coventry, Nuneaton and District branch said: “We were really pleased that our local branch of Yorkshire Building Society is supporting us in helping to get our new education programme off the ground.

“All the donations we receive are always prioritised towards caring for animals most in need so without the support of local businesses like the Yorkshire we would struggle to make our new programme a reality.

“We are always looking for ways we can work with our local community to ensure animal safety and welfare and hopefully with our new equipment we can hold some great presentations across the area and start getting the messages out there.”

The Coventry branch of the RSPCA is completely self-funded and cares for up to a thousand animals every year which costs the charity more than £450,000.  As well as caring for animals at the home the volunteers also work within the community organising welfare events and animal action days offering neutering or micro-chipping.

Mark Wakefield, manager of Yorkshire Building Society’s Coventry branch who nominated the RSPCA for the donation said: “We are so pleased to be able to show our support for a charity that helps care for a huge number of animals in need.  We fully support the RSPCA’s initiative in educating people and hope our donation will help make the programme a huge success.”

The donation to the RSPCA came from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation, the focal point for all the Yorkshire Building Society group charitable giving. The Charitable Foundation donation pot is created by the Society’s Small Change, Big Difference scheme that allows members to donate the pence of their interest every year to the Charitable Foundation.
